Mission Statement

We are called to SEEK God’s Word,
to SHARE and CELEBRATE God’s Love,
and to SERVE Jesus Christ in the world.

Mission Statement

Our Mission

When you get to know us, you’ll see that our Mission Statement is not just a sentence we put together a long time ago, but rather a statement we strive to look toward for both direction and decision making. Each program and activity of the church goes to promote our mission, whether it be seeking God’s word through times of worship, learning and prayer; sharing and celebrating God’s love in times of fellowship and mission; or serving Jesus through our everyday lives and special service opportunities.

What We Believe

Hickory Hills Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and resides within the Presbytery of Chicago.

Values
FAMILY

We are a “family church” what we mean by this is that when you are with us you are family. Families stick together, care for one another, and encourage each other. Families struggle sometimes but never doubt that they are connected. We warmly welcome you into our family. No matter where you come from or what you might be struggling with; if you are a family of one or a family of twelve; you are welcome.

SERVICE AND GENEROSITY

these words are central to our life together. We are involved in a wide variety of missions (most centered around food). In this community, there is a deep desire to serve and care for others. If someone is in need, we are quick to help. This is not limited to membership in the community but extends widely.

BEING TOGETHER, FOR A PURPOSE

We are a congregation that does not sit still. We are active in a wide variety of activities and ministries. Though we are a small body, we are engaged in a lot of different work. We are at our best when we are working together to make something happen. Life together matters a lot to us.

TENACITY

– Maybe you are a little stubborn too? We are a stick-to-it church, we don’t give up easily. HHPC stick to it with each other, for others, and for God’s work in this world.

FOOD

– It may sound strange but food is core to what we do and who we are. All of our events include at least some snacks. Worship is always extended into shared fellowship together. We are passionate about ensuring others are fed. Many of our ministries and missions are connected to food insecurity and the value of sharing a meal with others. We believe that there is something sacred about sharing food.
